Dusty Shoes: Living a Relevant Life

A baby camel (as babies will do), was peppering his mother with questions one day about his big feet, his long eyelashes, and the big hump on his back. His mother replied that they were all to help him traverse the hot, dry, windy, sandy terrain of the desert. Then the baby camel said, “But Mom, if we were designed to survive well in the desert, why are we in the zoo?”[1]

Good question.  And one we should ask of ourselves

Five Signs You are Spiritually Alive

Keith Garland
Description

(from Dr. David Jeremiah's study guide "Signs of Spiritual Life"

When a patient is brought in to a hospital emergency room unconscious, the first thing they do is check the patient for signs of life

Maybe one of the most dramatic scenes in sports is the finishing lap of a marathon race

Here’s a man or woman, very fatigued and worn out pushing out those last few steps as he or she breaks through the tape at the finish line

I admire someone who would train and discipline their body for such a thing

What a thrill that must be to have trained and sacrificed to be the one who crosses the finish line!

Is Christmas a Fairy Tale?

Keith Garland
Description

Is Christmas a Fairy Tale? (Various scriptures)

(from John Piper)

Is Christmas a fairy tale?  Is the baby in the manger, the wise men, the shepherds, the star, all just a story?

Is it the figment of someone’s imagination like Santa Claus, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, and the like?

Is Jesus just someone we created to help us feel better when we are bad?

Is God someone we created so that we could have hope about life and death?
